| CVE-2017-9239 | 2 Canonical, Exiv2 | 2 Ubuntu Linux, Exiv2 | 2023-11-07 | 4.3 MEDIUM | 6.5 MEDIUM |
| An issue was discovered in Exiv2 0.26. When the data structure of the structure ifd is incorrect, the program assigns pValue_ to 0x0, and the value of pValue() is 0x0. TiffImageEntry::doWriteImage will use the value of pValue() to cause a segmentation fault. To exploit this vulnerability, someone must open a crafted tiff file. | |||||
| CVE-2017-9471 | 2 Canonical, Ytnef Project | 2 Ubuntu Linux, Ytnef | 2023-11-07 | 4.3 MEDIUM | 5.5 MEDIUM |
| In ytnef 1.9.2, the SwapWord function in lib/ytnef.c allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (heap-based buffer over-read and application crash) via a crafted file. | |||||
| CVE-2017-9058 | 2 Canonical, Ytnef Project | 2 Ubuntu Linux, Ytnef | 2023-11-07 | 7.5 HIGH | 9.8 CRITICAL |
| In libytnef in ytnef through 1.9.2, there is a heap-based buffer over-read due to incorrect boundary checking in the SIZECHECK macro in lib/ytnef.c. | |||||
| CVE-2017-7518 | 4 Canonical, Debian, Linux and 1 more | 9 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Linux Kernel and 6 more | 2023-11-07 | 4.6 MEDIUM | 7.8 HIGH |
| A flaw was found in the Linux kernel before version 4.12 in the way the KVM module processed the trap flag(TF) bit in EFLAGS during emulation of the syscall instruction, which leads to a debug exception(#DB) being raised in the guest stack. A user/process inside a guest could use this flaw to potentially escalate their privileges inside the guest. Linux guests are not affected by this. | |||||
| CVE-2017-7526 | 3 Canonical, Debian, Gnupg | 3 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Libgcrypt | 2023-11-07 | 4.3 MEDIUM | 6.8 MEDIUM |
| libgcrypt before version 1.7.8 is vulnerable to a cache side-channel attack resulting into a complete break of RSA-1024 while using the left-to-right method for computing the sliding-window expansion. The same attack is believed to work on RSA-2048 with moderately more computation. This side-channel requires that attacker can run arbitrary software on the hardware where the private RSA key is used. | |||||
| CVE-2017-6362 | 4 Canonical, Debian, Fedoraproject and 1 more | 4 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Fedora and 1 more | 2023-11-07 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |
| Double free vulnerability in the gdImagePngPtr function in libgd2 before 2.2.5 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service via vectors related to a palette with no colors. | |||||
| CVE-2017-6519 | 2 Avahi, Canonical | 2 Avahi, Ubuntu Linux | 2023-11-07 | 6.4 MEDIUM | 9.1 CRITICAL |
| avahi-daemon in Avahi through 0.6.32 and 0.7 inadvertently responds to IPv6 unicast queries with source addresses that are not on-link, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (traffic amplification) and may cause information leakage by obtaining potentially sensitive information from the responding device via port-5353 UDP packets. NOTE: this may overlap CVE-2015-2809. | |||||
| CVE-2017-6056 | 2 Canonical, Debian | 2 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux | 2023-11-07 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |
| It was discovered that a programming error in the processing of HTTPS requests in the Apache Tomcat servlet and JSP engine may result in denial of service via an infinite loop. The denial of service is easily achievable as a consequence of backporting a CVE-2016-6816 fix but not backporting the fix for Tomcat bug 57544. Distributions affected by this backporting issue include Debian (before 7.0.56-3+deb8u8 and 8.0.14-1+deb8u7 in jessie) and Ubuntu. | |||||
| CVE-2017-18509 | 3 Canonical, Debian, Linux | 3 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Linux Kernel | 2023-11-07 | 7.2 HIGH | 7.8 HIGH |
| An issue was discovered in net/ipv6/ip6mr.c in the Linux kernel before 4.11. By setting a specific socket option, an attacker can control a pointer in kernel land and cause an inet_csk_listen_stop general protection fault, or potentially execute arbitrary code under certain circumstances. The issue can be triggered as root (e.g., inside a default LXC container or with the CAP_NET_ADMIN capability) or after namespace unsharing. This occurs because sk_type and protocol are not checked in the appropriate part of the ip6_mroute_* functions. NOTE: this affects Linux distributions that use 4.9.x longterm kernels before 4.9.187. | |||||
| CVE-2017-18922 | 5 Canonical, Fedoraproject, Libvncserver Project and 2 more | 16 Ubuntu Linux, Fedora, Libvncserver and 13 more | 2023-11-07 | 7.5 HIGH | 9.8 CRITICAL |
| It was discovered that websockets.c in LibVNCServer prior to 0.9.12 did not properly decode certain WebSocket frames. A malicious attacker could exploit this by sending specially crafted WebSocket frames to a server, causing a heap-based buffer overflow. | |||||
| CVE-2017-18043 | 3 Canonical, Debian, Qemu | 3 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Qemu | 2023-11-07 | 2.1 LOW | 5.5 MEDIUM |
| Integer overflow in the macro ROUND_UP (n, d) in Quick Emulator (Qemu) allows a user to cause a denial of service (Qemu process crash). | |||||
| CVE-2017-15705 | 4 Apache, Canonical, Debian and 1 more | 7 Spamassassin, Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux and 4 more | 2023-11-07 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 5.3 MEDIUM |
| A denial of service vulnerability was identified that exists in Apache SpamAssassin before 3.4.2. The vulnerability arises with certain unclosed tags in emails that cause markup to be handled incorrectly leading to scan timeouts. In Apache SpamAssassin, using HTML::Parser, we setup an object and hook into the begin and end tag event handlers In both cases, the "open" event is immediately followed by a "close" event - even if the tag *does not* close in the HTML being parsed. Because of this, we are missing the "text" event to deal with the object normally. This can cause carefully crafted emails that might take more scan time than expected leading to a Denial of Service. The issue is possibly a bug or design decision in HTML::Parser that specifically impacts the way Apache SpamAssassin uses the module with poorly formed html. The exploit has been seen in the wild but not believed to have been purposefully part of a Denial of Service attempt. We are concerned that there may be attempts to abuse the vulnerability in the future. | |||||
| CVE-2017-15710 | 5 Apache, Canonical, Debian and 2 more | 8 Http Server, Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux and 5 more | 2023-11-07 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |
| In Apache httpd 2.0.23 to 2.0.65, 2.2.0 to 2.2.34, and 2.4.0 to 2.4.29, mod_authnz_ldap, if configured with AuthLDAPCharsetConfig, uses the Accept-Language header value to lookup the right charset encoding when verifying the user's credentials. If the header value is not present in the charset conversion table, a fallback mechanism is used to truncate it to a two characters value to allow a quick retry (for example, 'en-US' is truncated to 'en'). A header value of less than two characters forces an out of bound write of one NUL byte to a memory location that is not part of the string. In the worst case, quite unlikely, the process would crash which could be used as a Denial of Service attack. In the more likely case, this memory is already reserved for future use and the issue has no effect at all. | |||||
| CVE-2017-15715 | 5 Apache, Canonical, Debian and 2 more | 8 Http Server, Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux and 5 more | 2023-11-07 | 6.8 MEDIUM | 8.1 HIGH |
| In Apache httpd 2.4.0 to 2.4.29, the expression specified in <FilesMatch> could match '$' to a newline character in a malicious filename, rather than matching only the end of the filename. This could be exploited in environments where uploads of some files are are externally blocked, but only by matching the trailing portion of the filename. | |||||
| CVE-2017-16548 | 3 Canonical, Debian, Samba | 3 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Rsync | 2023-11-07 | 7.5 HIGH | 9.8 CRITICAL |
| The receive_xattr function in xattrs.c in rsync 3.1.2 and 3.1.3-development does not check for a trailing '\0' character in an xattr name, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (heap-based buffer over-read and application crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact by sending crafted data to the daemon. | |||||
| CVE-2017-14493 | 5 Canonical, Debian, Opensuse and 2 more | 7 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Leap and 4 more | 2023-11-07 | 7.5 HIGH | 9.8 CRITICAL |
| Stack-based buffer overflow in dnsmasq before 2.78 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) or execute arbitrary code via a crafted DHCPv6 request. | |||||
| CVE-2017-14492 | 5 Canonical, Debian, Novell and 2 more | 7 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Leap and 4 more | 2023-11-07 | 7.5 HIGH | 9.8 CRITICAL |
| Heap-based buffer overflow in dnsmasq before 2.78 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) or execute arbitrary code via a crafted IPv6 router advertisement request. | |||||
| CVE-2017-14494 | 5 Canonical, Debian, Novell and 2 more | 7 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Leap and 4 more | 2023-11-07 | 4.3 MEDIUM | 5.9 MEDIUM |
| dnsmasq before 2.78, when configured as a relay, allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive memory information via vectors involving handling DHCPv6 forwarded requests. | |||||
| CVE-2017-15118 | 3 Canonical, Qemu, Redhat | 3 Ubuntu Linux, Qemu, Enterprise Linux | 2023-11-07 | 7.5 HIGH | 9.8 CRITICAL |
| A stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability was found in NBD server implementation in qemu before 2.11 allowing a client to request an export name of size up to 4096 bytes, which in fact should be limited to 256 bytes, causing an out-of-bounds stack write in the qemu process. If NBD server requires TLS, the attacker cannot trigger the buffer overflow without first successfully negotiating TLS. | |||||
| CVE-2017-14495 | 5 Canonical, Debian, Novell and 2 more | 7 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Leap and 4 more | 2023-11-07 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |
| Memory leak in dnsmasq before 2.78, when the --add-mac, --add-cpe-id or --add-subnet option is specified, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) via vectors involving DNS response creation. | |||||
