A flaw was found in grub2 in versions prior to 2.06. The rmmod implementation allows the unloading of a module used as a dependency without checking if any other dependent module is still loaded leading to a use-after-free scenario. This could allow arbitrary code to be executed or a bypass of Secure Boot protections. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to data confidentiality and integrity as well as system availability.
CVE-2020-27749 4 Fedoraproject, Gnu, Netapp and 1 more 8 Fedora, Grub2, Ontap Select Deploy Administration Utility and 5 more 2023-11-07 7.2 HIGH 6.7 MEDIUM
A flaw was found in grub2 in versions prior to 2.06. Variable names present are expanded in the supplied command line into their corresponding variable contents, using a 1kB stack buffer for temporary storage, without sufficient bounds checking. If the function is called with a command line that references a variable with a sufficiently large payload, it is possible to overflow the stack buffer, corrupt the stack frame and control execution which could also circumvent Secure Boot protections. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to data confidentiality and integrity as well as system availability.
CVE-2020-25647 4 Fedoraproject, Gnu, Netapp and 1 more 8 Fedora, Grub2, Ontap Select Deploy Administration Utility and 5 more 2023-11-07 7.2 HIGH 7.6 HIGH
A flaw was found in grub2 in versions prior to 2.06. During USB device initialization, descriptors are read with very little bounds checking and assumes the USB device is providing sane values. If properly exploited, an attacker could trigger memory corruption leading to arbitrary code execution allowing a bypass of the Secure Boot mechanism. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to data confidentiality and integrity as well as system availability.
CVE-2020-25648 4 Fedoraproject, Mozilla, Oracle and 1 more 6 Fedora, Network Security Services, Communications Offline Mediation Controller and 3 more 2023-11-07 5.0 MEDIUM 7.5 HIGH
A flaw was found in the way NSS handled CCS (ChangeCipherSpec) messages in TLS 1.3. This flaw allows a remote attacker to send multiple CCS messages, causing a denial of service for servers compiled with the NSS library. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to system availability. This flaw affects NSS versions before 3.58.
CVE-2020-1711 4 Debian, Opensuse, Qemu and 1 more 5 Debian Linux, Leap, Qemu and 2 more 2023-11-07 6.0 MEDIUM 6.0 MEDIUM
An out-of-bounds heap buffer access flaw was found in the way the iSCSI Block driver in QEMU versions 2.12.0 before 4.2.1 handled a response coming from an iSCSI server while checking the status of a Logical Address Block (LBA) in an iscsi_co_block_status() routine. A remote user could use this flaw to crash the QEMU process, resulting in a denial of service or potential execution of arbitrary code with privileges of the QEMU process on the host.
CVE-2020-1730 6 Canonical, Fedoraproject, Libssh and 3 more 6 Ubuntu Linux, Fedora, Libssh and 3 more 2023-11-07 5.0 MEDIUM 5.3 MEDIUM
A flaw was found in libssh versions before 0.8.9 and before 0.9.4 in the way it handled AES-CTR (or DES ciphers if enabled) ciphers. The server or client could crash when the connection hasn't been fully initialized and the system tries to cleanup the ciphers when closing the connection. The biggest threat from this vulnerability is system availability.
CVE-2020-1749 2 Linux, Redhat 3 Linux Kernel, Enterprise Linux, Enterprise Mrg 2023-11-07 5.0 MEDIUM 7.5 HIGH
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's implementation of some networking protocols in IPsec, such as VXLAN and GENEVE tunnels over IPv6. When an encrypted tunnel is created between two hosts, the kernel isn't correctly routing tunneled data over the encrypted link; rather sending the data unencrypted. This would allow anyone in between the two endpoints to read the traffic unencrypted. The main threat from this vulnerability is to data confidentiality.
CVE-2020-1720 2 Postgresql, Redhat 4 Postgresql, Decision Manager, Enterprise Linux and 1 more 2023-11-07 3.5 LOW 6.5 MEDIUM
A flaw was found in PostgreSQL's "ALTER ... DEPENDS ON EXTENSION", where sub-commands did not perform authorization checks. An authenticated attacker could use this flaw in certain configurations to perform drop objects such as function, triggers, et al., leading to database corruption. This issue affects PostgreSQL versions before 12.2, before 11.7, before 10.12 and before 9.6.17.
CVE-2020-1751 3 Canonical, Gnu, Redhat 3 Ubuntu Linux, Glibc, Enterprise Linux 2023-11-07 5.9 MEDIUM 7.0 HIGH
An out-of-bounds write vulnerability was found in glibc before 2.31 when handling signal trampolines on PowerPC. Specifically, the backtrace function did not properly check the array bounds when storing the frame address, resulting in a denial of service or potential code execution. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to system availability.
CVE-2020-1712 3 Debian, Redhat, Systemd Project 7 Debian Linux, Ceph Storage, Discovery and 4 more 2023-11-07 4.6 MEDIUM 7.8 HIGH
A heap use-after-free vulnerability was found in systemd before version v245-rc1, where asynchronous Polkit queries are performed while handling dbus messages. A local unprivileged attacker can abuse this flaw to crash systemd services or potentially execute code and elevate their privileges, by sending specially crafted dbus messages.
CVE-2020-14372 4 Fedoraproject, Gnu, Netapp and 1 more 9 Fedora, Grub2, Cloud Backup and 6 more 2023-11-07 6.2 MEDIUM 7.5 HIGH
A flaw was found in grub2 in versions prior to 2.06, where it incorrectly enables the usage of the ACPI command when Secure Boot is enabled. This flaw allows an attacker with privileged access to craft a Secondary System Description Table (SSDT) containing code to overwrite the Linux kernel lockdown variable content directly into memory. The table is further loaded and executed by the kernel, defeating its Secure Boot lockdown and allowing the attacker to load unsigned code. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to data confidentiality and integrity, as well as system availability.
CVE-2020-14394 3 Fedoraproject, Qemu, Redhat 5 Extra Packages For Enterprise Linux, Fedora, Qemu and 2 more 2023-11-07 N/A 3.2 LOW
An infinite loop flaw was found in the USB xHCI controller emulation of QEMU while computing the length of the Transfer Request Block (TRB) Ring. This flaw allows a privileged guest user to hang the QEMU process on the host, resulting in a denial of service.
CVE-2020-14370 3 Fedoraproject, Podman Project, Redhat 4 Fedora, Podman, Enterprise Linux and 1 more 2023-11-07 4.0 MEDIUM 5.3 MEDIUM
An information disclosure vulnerability was found in containers/podman in versions before 2.0.5. When using the deprecated Varlink API or the Docker-compatible REST API, if multiple containers are created in a short duration, the environment variables from the first container will get leaked into subsequent containers. An attacker who has control over the subsequent containers could use this flaw to gain access to sensitive information stored in such variables.
CVE-2020-14364 6 Canonical, Debian, Fedoraproject and 3 more 7 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Fedora and 4 more 2023-11-07 4.4 MEDIUM 5.0 MEDIUM
An out-of-bounds read/write access flaw was found in the USB emulator of the QEMU in versions before 5.2.0. This issue occurs while processing USB packets from a guest when USBDevice 'setup_len' exceeds its 'data_buf[4096]' in the do_token_in, do_token_out routines. This flaw allows a guest user to crash the QEMU process, resulting in a denial of service, or the potential execution of arbitrary code with the privileges of the QEMU process on the host.
CVE-2020-14373 2 Artifex, Redhat 2 Ghostscript, Enterprise Linux 2023-11-07 2.1 LOW 5.5 MEDIUM
A use after free was found in igc_reloc_struct_ptr() of psi/igc.c of ghostscript-9.25. A local attacker could supply a specially crafted PDF file to cause a denial of service.
CVE-2020-14310 4 Canonical, Gnu, Opensuse and 1 more 7 Ubuntu Linux, Grub2, Leap and 4 more 2023-11-07 3.6 LOW 6.0 MEDIUM
There is an issue on grub2 before version 2.06 at function read_section_as_string(). It expects a font name to be at max UINT32_MAX - 1 length in bytes but it doesn't verify it before proceed with buffer allocation to read the value from the font value. An attacker may leverage that by crafting a malicious font file which has a name with UINT32_MAX, leading to read_section_as_string() to an arithmetic overflow, zero-sized allocation and further heap-based buffer overflow.
CVE-2020-14311 4 Canonical, Gnu, Opensuse and 1 more 7 Ubuntu Linux, Grub2, Leap and 4 more 2023-11-07 3.6 LOW 6.0 MEDIUM
There is an issue with grub2 before version 2.06 while handling symlink on ext filesystems. A filesystem containing a symbolic link with an inode size of UINT32_MAX causes an arithmetic overflow leading to a zero-sized memory allocation with subsequent heap-based buffer overflow.
CVE-2020-14382 4 Canonical, Cryptsetup Project, Fedoraproject and 1 more 4 Ubuntu Linux, Cryptsetup, Fedora and 1 more 2023-11-07 6.8 MEDIUM 7.8 HIGH
A vulnerability was found in upstream release cryptsetup-2.2.0 where, there's a bug in LUKS2 format validation code, that is effectively invoked on every device/image presenting itself as LUKS2 container. The bug is in segments validation code in file 'lib/luks2/luks2_json_metadata.c' in function hdr_validate_segments(struct crypt_device *cd, json_object *hdr_jobj) where the code does not check for possible overflow on memory allocation used for intervals array (see statement "intervals = malloc(first_backup * sizeof(*intervals));"). Due to the bug, library can be *tricked* to expect such allocation was successful but for far less memory then originally expected. Later it may read data FROM image crafted by an attacker and actually write such data BEYOND allocated memory.
